Using the very best, fresh, local and seasonal Scottish produce, a selection of mouthwatering lunches and dinners are presented beautifully. The ambience is relaxed and warm with attentive, friendly staff.
The drive out to the venue is itself a treat as is a walk through the Carberry Tower Mansion, to which the bistro is annexed. The history of the restaurant goes back to the 1400’s and it has multi-generational support from locals and guests in the area. I enjoyed visiting the area as an outing but the venue itself is certainly worth a culinary experience and another visit – even if you only have a locally produced whiskey in the bar or a tea in the library.
The food is surely the star of the show. With farming territory and the open seas on their doorstep, The Campaign Room Bistro offers the best ingredients, masterfully put together. All in all, a fabulous, unpretentious, excellent dining experience: as friendly and authentic as the people of East Lothian.
