Ets Vallauri Wine Bar and Shop (Cannes) Review

When you’re in Cannes for a day and want some good wine, this is your place!

We saw an online review simply reading “A bit snobby”. When someone who visited in January 2021 (when Covid was still lurking around) posts a rubbish 3-word review like that, you wonder what they thought to be so rude. Either way, we gave them a try and although our server shyly said his English wasn’t great (it was fine, he was just overly conscious – perhaps after coming across people like the bad reviewer!), and he warmed up to us in such a way that you think that cultures and humanity will always differ; but we had a great experience here.

After all, we’re here for the wine and fresh and flavoursome food and it’s certainly worth mentioning on Thacks Awards. Besides, we’re in France and our French is much worse than his English. The wines on offer were great with a massive selection and we had a tasty treat of fresh bread, pate, glorious meats and cheeses too. The table next to us had a tasty time too as we couldn’t help overhearing the American friends talking about their Cannes Film Festival endeavours while they audibly enjoyed the wine and cheeses on offer.

Ets Vallauri is located across the walkway from Marche Forville, a well-known Cannes market for fresh produce and flowers. The market was winding down when we passed it. We first visited a less impressive wine bar on the touristy Rue Felix Faure and although we had a boat to catch, we were very happy that we stumbled onto Ets Vallauri. We were also able to buy some great local wines here – the store is beautiful inside and we enjoyed sitting in the shade outside on a beautiful sunny day.
