For something to be featured on Thacks Awards, it needs to be good. And ‘Vinorte’ in Valencia won’t disappoint!
Last night two of the panelists and their friends stumbled upon this gem. And we’ll be back… very soon.
We had a 21:30 dinner show reservation nearby and it turned out that the highlight of our evening was Vinorte. A quick google search on wine bars near the reservation venue showed up Vinorte (which isn’t too far from Xativa station) and we made a WhatsApp reservation thinking it might be cheeky to say we’re ‘just’ wanting a table for a quick drink. ‘Sin problema’ came the answer. The two hours spent here was heavenly.
We didn’t know at the time that the venue had recently opened and our reservation was perhaps not necessary – yet. Because we’re sure that this place will become popular with its fresh new interior and the fantastic husband-and-wife owners running this fine establishment that they’re clearly proud of. We were told of the beautiful original and old interior wooden doors which had been moved from the street and the bar is cleverly built from wooden wine crates and boxes with the décor looking classy yet personalised.
Although there’s a great wine and tapas menu, out came a ‘bible’ of wines with a magnificent and reasonable selection of carefully procured wines and the little touches like stunning wine glasses, a taster tapas, the classy display of your bottle on the table and insistence of fresh glasses for the 2nd red wine bottle made us want to stay longer than we could. We opted for a great French and Spanish red. Iria, the owner was lovely, and we promised that we’d share a bottle of SA red with her in the future. But we’ll be back before then to try some more of their massive selection.
Valencia, Spain’s 3rd largest city, is surprising with a few of these types of gems with passionate owners putting their hearts and souls into their businesses.
