The port city of Valencia lies on Spain’s eastern coast, where the Turia River meets the Mediterranean Sea. It’s known for its old historic city contrasted by the modern City of Arts and Sciences, with futuristic structures including a planetarium, an oceanarium and an interactive museum.
Valencia is the third largest city in Spain and was founded as a Roman colony in 138 BC. Not quite as old, L’ozzi Wine Lounge opened its doors on 4 January 2020 in the old city part of Valencia. Although covid struck and meant many government-imposed changes in trading hours, two of the Thacks Awards panelists immediately fell in love with the décor and wine selections of this cozy establishment and have added it to the 2021 Top 5 list.
With perfect lighting, comfy seating, great background music and friendly service, it’s the ideal wine lounge to relax, enjoy and unwind in an intimate wine-only setting. The cheeses and meats on offer are carefully sourced from Valencia’s tasty food markets and the wine selections cover many Spanish offerings but also some interesting new world wines. We’re sure that if you are lucky enough to visit Valencia, you must take an evening to visit L’ozzi.
TOP TIP: Trading hours are currently Thursday to Saturday evenings; the perfect time to catch up with friends and have a bottle or three. See if you can find the toilets without walking into the cellar.
