Blau Mar is a little gem in Calpe.
The vibe from sitting next to the kitchen where the largely young and energetic team are buzzing in and out from a lively front-of-house is contagious.
We were walking down the promenade and commented that it’s probably just tourist traps on the beachfront, BUT this was an unexpected treasure of a find.
Josep, the manager/owner, took an interest to the Carmela Rodelo wine we ordered and two of our party ordered the paella which we all tasted. Although Valencia paella is famous, this was for sure the best that any of us tasted and the hype and happiness of the team working here along with the patrons, confirms this is a place very worthy of a Thacks Award. Quite possibly the best paella in Spain.
Prawns, mussels, calamari and the tastiest paella rice. The ratio and flavour was perfect, with a moist but not oily satisfaction.
Followed by a treat of cremaet like only in this part of the world!
